A busy season in deed for the California native was an understatement. Sandhausen was the top offensive team in the league with 2008 points in 21 league games (95.6) points per game average as a team as well as going over the 100 point mark seven times this season. While leading the way for his team he set a few personal records along the way. Led the league in scoring with 32 points per game, also averaged 40 points against two teams in the league. Led the league in 3 pointers made and 3 point percentage. Third in the league in free-throw percentage (83.5%) in addition to leading the team to the Championship game in the "3 Kings Tournament". Wright also added 15 games of 30+ points and 4 games of 40+ out of the 21 league games he played in,not to mention hitting 3 or more 3 pointers in 15 games with 2 games of 8 three pointers made and 3 games of six three pointers made.
Just the facts, when you talk about team then the numbers and results speak for themselves. Advancing to the German DBB Quarterfinals Pokal Championship. A team that has in two seasons complied a record of 36 wins - 7 losses (83.7 win percentage). So as a team the facts are overwhelming that Sandhausen is a team you do not want to take lightly, nor do you want to take the point guard from California as a easy win either. Scoring +40 in three consecutive games, 1 game of 25 points in a QUARTER (while connecting on 7 3-pointers in that quarter) both personal records, 1 game of 21 points in a quarter including 5 3-pointers in the quarter. Led the league in scoring for the second consecutive season with 34 pts/g. Third in the league with a 89% free-throw average for the season while converting 189 of 213 attempts (9.68 attempts per game). 60 more than anyone in the league, and 150 more than anyone in the top ten. Led the league in 3 pointers made 75 (3.4 per game). Six games of over 40 points, and leading DBB Pokal scorer with 36.3 points per game. So if we are talking just facts it is safe to say that he continues to improve and help his teammates grow.
After three seasons of basketball certain accomplishments should be recognized and the contributions Wright has given TG Sandhausen. Among these would be the fact that the team has reached the quarter-finals of the DBB Pokal Cup in all three seasons. The 89ers have also accumulated a 41-24 (59% win rate) record over the last three seasons, losing only four games in the first season and three games in second season when Wright joined the team. Scoring 2,149 total points in 65 regular season games for the 89ers and a amazing league leading 32.9 points per game, including connecting on 519 free throws out of the 600 attempts (86.5%) in league play all which are records. Over his three seasons for Sandhausen Wright lead the league in 3-points field goals made and average for all three seasons with 211 total three pointers made and (3.22) 3-pointers per game over three seasons. Wright has gone over the +40-points mark 12 times in three seasons including a 52 points effort this season with 2 game winning free throws against TSV Berghausen. Wright has gone over the +30 points mark 47 times out of 65 regular season games. This includes a stretch of 9 consecutive games of 30 or more points in the 2005-06 season in which his team had a record of 17 wins - 4 losses (81% win rate) in the regular season and a streak of 11 consecutive games of +30 points in the 2007-08 season where Wright did not reach 30 or more points in only 5 games that season and the team record was 19 wins - 3 losses (86% win rate) during the regular season. After helping promote his team the next league Wright again lead the league in every offensive category for the 3rd straight season and earned his 3rd consecutive MVP of the League and Scoring Title for the third straight season. However the team suffered a horrid season of 5 wins - 17 losses and was never able to capitalize on having the league's top player at their disposal. So after 3 seasons of 89er basketball it is time for Wright to move on to another challenge.
Faced with a new set of challenges Wright had a crew of young players that needed to be led and groomed. Wright was up to the task by finishing again in the top 10 of every category . 21 points per game (10th) Shooting just under 80% from the free throw line for the first time in his career he still managed to make the top 40 players from the foul line. Wright also tied for 10th is Field goal percentage and was 2nd on the team in rebounding with (6.2 rpg) and 3rd in the league in steals including 7 games of over 30 points and a season high 34 points against Gotha(winners of the league)
Wright lead the team in every statistical category. While keeping the team in the division Wright was able to help his team and in the process himself with maintaining the league. This included a 36 point display against Berghausen and 5 games of +30 points throughout the season.
This season was nothing short of a fairytale for the guy from Los Angeles. E.Wright led his team to a 3rd place finish while leading the league in scoring for the 7th time in eleven seasons (25.6 ppg) and led the league in assist for the 8th time in eleven seasons (8.4 apg) while recording a set of career highs in the process...Including a game against Ober-Rammstadt of eight 3-pointers in the game (ties a career high) and including a 19 point in the first 5 mins of a game against Aschaffenburg going 4-for-4 from the 3point line in that stretch...This Season in Weiterstadt included 2 games with over 40 points and 8 games over 30+ points without having a game under 15 points this season all the while leading Weiterstadt to one of the best and most competitive seasons they have had in a long time..(finished 3rd in hte regular season) Weiterstadt becomes one of several teams to have the right to say they as a team have had the top scorer in the league in their divison playing for them...very rare company to be in which also include scoring tittles in : TV Konstanz, BC Weissenhorn, TG Sandhausen (*2 time scoring tittle), SSC Karlsruhe, BC Vienna... So for Weiterstadt and E.Wright it was mutually benefical for both.
